Common Issue 1) Someone is experiencing head vibration during their vibration exercise training

Steps to follow:
-Check for proper posture
-Check to make sure knees or arms are bent and not locked
-During lower limb exercises, shift weight slightly towards the toes
-Monitor and change the frequency/intensity settings
-Provide an alternate exercise position

Common Issue 2)User does not feel the When a user does not feel the stimulus in the target area, this is generally due to improper
vibration stimulus is positioning.

Steps to follow:
-Change the position of the exercise slightly, for example by increasing pressure targeting the right area to the heels while targeting lower body muscles
-Monitor and change the frequency/intensity settings
-Provide an alternate exercise position

Common Issue 3)User does not think they feel their muscles working hard enough

Steps to follow:
Explain-“Vibration exercise is similar to any other type of exercise where stimulus is enough and you need to start slow. Let’s see how your body responds today and we can always progress wants more than the on your next visit.”
“Vibration exercise is designed to feel comfortable and easy. However, you are actually getting up to 3000 muscle contractions per minute. There is a strict time frame
that is set for this form of exercise. Let’s review how you feel next time and then we can slowly increase the difficulty and intensity of exercise.”

Common Issue 4) User feels sore next day

Steps to follow:
-Explain that it’s normal: “Vibration is a new form of exercise that is designed to actually be comfortable and easy to do. With any new exercise, your body may sometimes get sore, even though you may have felt that it was effortless.

Sometimes when someone starts a vibration exercise training program. They might experience a little head vibration or a little soreness, this is normal. As the machine vibrates, it transmits energy to your body, forcing your muscles to contract and relax dozens of times each second. You may feel as if you’re exerting yourself when you do whole body vibration. You may find a whole body vibration machine at a local gym, or you can even buy one for home use.

Whole Body Vibration Weight Loss

Advocates say that as little as 15 minutes a day of whole body vibration three times a week can aid weight loss, burn fat, improve flexibility, enhance blood flow, build strength and decrease the stress hormone cortisol.

Research has shown that whole body vibration helps improve muscle strength and weight loss when you also cut back on calories.

Whole body vibration also may have a role beyond sports and fitness. Some research shows that whole body vibration, when performed correctly and under medical supervision when needed, can:

Reduce back pain

Improve balance in older adults

Vibration training is an effective exercise tool to help achieve your goals, whether it is to get stronger, faster, more toned, or simply to recover faster.Recovery after an intense workout is sometimes just as important as the workout itself. Fitness and sports enthusiasts work hard every day to get the results they want. Surprisingly, most people don’t realize how effective vibration training can be for your recovery. In this article, we are going to explore some of the tips and strategies you can use to help you recover so that you can train harder next time.

Vibration training reduces DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness)

Delayed onset muscle soreness is one of the main culprits that get in our way of maximizing our exercise potential. As we train or exercise harder, we also tend to get sore for a few days. This leads to stiffness and sometimes pain, which can prevent us from getting back into the gym or circuit. A study in 2009 showed that using vibration training following an intense workout decreased pain from 22 to 61% over the next 3 days after the workout. Less pain means being more mobile and prevents us from limiting our activities due to pain. The study looked more at a vibration training stretching program. However, if you begin to add deep massage techniques with your WAVE vibration training, you’ll get even better results due to the large amount of increased blood flow that comes with that.

Vibration training can be used before training to help reduce muscle soreness after

The previous study looked more at the stretching vibration program. However, more interesting ways of training are now coming out. Another study, done in 2011, actually used vibration training for about 60 seconds BEFORE engaging in an intense strength training program. They also found that delayed onset muscle soreness was less with the vibration training group. In this study, the researchers believed that vibration training reduced soreness by improved muscle function. For the serious athlete or the fitness enthusiast looking to get a better, more intense workout, try performing an exercise on a WAVE vibration training platform prior to your regular exercise. You’ll be amazed at how much less pain you’ll get afterwards.

WAVE Vibration training in practice: Georges St. Pierre

One of the best examples of using WAVE vibration training for recovery is the use of the WAVE by Jonathan Chaimberg, trainer for Mixed Martial Arts fighters like Georges St. Pierre and Denis Kang. For these athletes, finding a recovery tool is sometimes more important than finding something that gets you stronger. The WAVE is just the right tool for this. For more information on the use of WAVE vibration training in mixed martial arts, check out the article in Fighters Only Magazine where Georges St. Pierre uses the WAVE to help him recover.

Power and strength gains are crucial for any athlete looking to make a difference in their performance, and vibration training is gaining more interest in this field. For these super human beings, an improvement of 0.1 seconds in their speed or reaction time can be the difference between ranking number and 1 and not number 1. In sports, there is no place for second. That’s why a lot of strength coaches and athletes look for new ways to increase strength, performance and power. When it comes to vibration training, there are several questions that athletes and coaches ask, and we have attempted to provide answers in this article to a few of them:

Vibration training enhances muscle recruitment

The one vibration training question we get is “does vibration do something more than what you would get doing the same exercise but without vibration?” In order for vibration training to be effective in increasing strength and power, you’ll need to see some form of enhancement to your program. Studies have shown that adding vibration training actually leads to greater muscle recruitment. What this means is that you will use more muscles than you would without vibration. Using more muscles allows you to lift more, hence helping you get stronger and faster.

Vibration training leads to acute increases in power and force development

We’ve talked about how vibration training can help one recruit more muscles when they do their resistance training exercises on a vibration platform. However, there are other ways to train, depending on your goals. Vibration training can also be used in between sets of heavy resistance training. Through some of the research out there, it appears that using vibration between sets elicits an ‘acute postactivation potentiation.’ According to a research study by Lamont HS et al (2010) in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, this may ‘lead to increased recruitment and synchronization of high-threshold motor units, minimize fatigue potential, and facilitate the chronic adaptation to resistance exercise.’

Getting the right strength and power gains depends on getting the right type of vibration training platform

These type of results are being consistently shown in recent research. However, not all vibration platforms are the same. You must take into consideration your goals. Does the platform have the right amount of intensity, amplitude and frequency to generate these type of muscle activations? Is the platform large enough to handle heavier weight loads? If you are looking for these type of answers, simply download our ‘Buyer’s Guide to Vibration Exercise’ so you can have access to the checklist that every buyer should use prior to buying a vibration machine.

Vibration training was used by the US Ski Team

WAVE vibration training was seen as an integral part of the US Ski Team’s training that led up to the 2010 Winter Olympics, in addition to being a fixture in their warm up and recovery facility on the hill. According to the team’s director of Sports Science, “We find the machine incredibly useful for waking up the neurological system and applying loads through the body that we just can’t get from traditional weight training.”

Case studies like the US Ski Team are only a small part of research in vibration training. WAVE vibration is currently involved in several research studies across North America at various hospitals and universities. Interested in seeing what the current research says about vibration? Simply click and download our ‘buyer’s guide to vibration exercise’. As more research comes out, we’ll get a better idea on exactly how WAVE vibration can help you gain strength and lose fat, improving your game or simply getting you more toned. Recovery with vibration training after a sports or fitness program is just the icing on the cake.

Fitness enthusiasts have been seeing improvements in strength, tone, and fat loss when they add vibration training into their routines. Although vibration training has it’s place in helping those that can’t exercise, by providing a low impact and safe exercise, more and more fit people are turning to vibration technology to give them an edge in their program. However, the type of training for someone that is fit can be slightly different than for others that are more sedentary. This article explores some of the ways to integrate vibration training into your fitness program.

Vibration training increases flexibility in half the time

Most people that are involved in some sort of fitness program spend time warming up and stretching. This can take several minutes to loosen up the joints and muscles. Vibration training has been shown to significantly improve flexibility compared to conventional stretching programs. One study found that there was twice as much increase in flexibility. Another interesting thing to note is that there is a significant ‘body temperature’ increase after a few minutes of vibration training. This is similar to what one would get after a good warm up. Our experience shows that this takes far less time than regular stretching and warm ups. That way, you’re able to quickly get into your fitness program faster.

Vibration training can be used during rest time for faster recovery

This technique is most effective when you’re working on other pieces of equipment, such as weight training or high intensity cardio. Some studies have shown positive benefits in using vibration in between the sets. A study has shown that using vibration for the lower body increases the amount of power and strength in doing an upper body exercise right after. These type of findings help those that want to get more power and intensity out of their regular workout. Using vibration in between workouts also helps keep the circulation going, preventing any cramping of the muscles.

Vibration training can be used after each exercise set to help hit more muscles

A good workout usually leaves you with an after burn, with the feeling that you’ve put in some good effort. The goal of any program is to attack your muscles with the most intense workout, in addition to making sure the most muscles are involved. Since vibration exercise is based on an involuntary muscle contraction, those that finish a set of intense exercise often use vibration training at the end to give their muscles one last shock. The involuntary contraction will help recruit more muscles fibers than regular training and give you an afterburn that is more effective.

Vibration training is an effective cool down

For some, vibration training is an excellent addition to their training program. For others, the main issue is the ability to recover faster so that they can train harder next time around. If this describes you, then using vibration training at the end of the program will help provide a deep tissue massage effect, increasing blood flow to the muscles through vigorous contractions. A few minutes of vibration training at the end of the program has been shown to take away some of the soreness associated with conventional exercise training.

Vibration training is the perfect complement to your exercise program

This article shows how vibration training can easily be integrated within your existing exercise program. These are techniques that most people are unaware of when they decide whether to purchase a vibration machine or not. As you can see, there are multiple applications available.

To gain more flexibility, the client stood on the WAVE vibration machine and bent over with knees slightly bent. The improvement in flexibility was shocking. There was at least 3 inches extra reach, and the vibration machine was only on for 30 seconds. We see these types of reactions all the time. If one of your goals is to maintain or increase flexibility, then vibration exercise training should be a required part of your training or exercise program. This article takes a look at some of the research behind improving flexibility through vibration machines.

Flexibility is maintained after you stop stretching

A study in the International Journal of Sports Medicine tested whether vibration exercise would produce not only increased range of motion, but also whether the improvement was still there after several weeks of not stretching. Three weeks after stopping the stretching, the group that performed static stretching returned back to where they were before the study. However, the vibration group still maintained flexibility which was about 11 % more than it was before the study. Everyone is always asking the question ‘how long will the results stay?’ This is one of the first studies to actually show retention of flexibility after you stop stretching, and it’s mostly due to a vibration machine.

Vibration machines improve flexibility for golf

A study in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research also looked at whether golfers could improve not only their power and performance, but also their flexibility. The data showed that there was a profound increase in range of motion and power output for golfers if a vibration warm up was done. That’s why athletes in various sports are seeing the benefits of using vibration as a warm up to increase flexibility.

Add vibration flexibility exercises to your program

Due to it’s improvement with flexibility, more people are beginning to add vibration as part of a total fitness solution. Range of motion is important for a wide variety of people, from those with medical conditions that prevent them from doing regular exercise, to the fitness and sports enthusiast. Some may not be able to increase flexibility due to pain or discomfort. Vibration exercise allows one to increase their range of motion gently and without pain. Whatever your goals, vibration machines can be an effective part of any flexibility improvement program.

As more health professionals begin using vibration exercise in their practices, one of the first thing they demand is the ability to effectively learn how to implement this form of exercise into their patients’ treatment through vibration education. Health professionals have a high standard with their treatment options, and vibration exercise is no different. This article explores some of the key things to keep in mind when implementing vibration exercise into your practice.

Vibration exercise purchase should include clinical protocols with the vibration education component

Through our clinical training, we’ve always stressed that vibration exercise should be considered another exercise tool, and all the exercises on a vibration machine should be given the same thought process as in any other form of exercise. However, even with other forms of exercise, there are specific protocols in proper vibration education that are based on proper physiological principles. Having good clinical protocols through vibration education on hand should accelerate your learning curve with what specific exercises or programs to put your patients on for maximum results.

Vibration exercise training should include video vibration education training

Exercise is designed to be about movements, and slight changes in positioning will alter the effects you can get with that type of exercise. That’s why more detailed views of the exercise position should be provided, with explanation of safe, and unsafe, variations to each exercise. This concept is nothing new. It’s been used extensively in weight training, Pilates and Yoga. Proper mechanics in positioning is crucial to increase the exercise effect and decrease risk of injury.

Vibration exercise is based on proper physiological principals of training through proper vibration education

Vibration exercise is not meant to be a radically different exercise device than conventional training. It’s simply exercise done in a more efficient and effective way, taking less time than conventional exercise while achieving similar results. That’s why the clinical protocols are based on proper physiological principles. Once a clinician becomes aware, through vibration education, that vibration is an extremely effective tool in their toolbox, he/she becomes more comfortable in utilizing the technology. Clinicians that would initially screen out certain patients for vibration will slowly transition into using vibration exercise for the majority of the patients.

Opening a vibration studio is becoming more and more popular among people looking to start their own business. Most have tried vibration before and have noticed the benefits one can get from using these vibration machines. Some see the full potential and want to help others achieve the same benefits through their own vibration studio. If you are looking to open up your own vibration studio, make sure you follow 5 easy steps to understanding what is involved with your new venture.

Find the right market for your vibration studio

Those looking to open their vibration studio have different markets in mind. Before you decide to open, evaluate what type of market you are attracting. Vibration exercise has many wide uses, from the geriatric population to the sports performance athlete. There’s always a tendency to want to be everything to everyone. However, do your market research and find the market that best suits your skills, personality and experience. Are you a health professional that is looking at using the vibration studio as a membership option for your patients? Or do you work with athletes and looking to set up more of a fitness and athletic studio? By knowing the right market, you’ll have a better focus on your initial marketing and type of programs you want to offer

Find the right location for your vibration studio

Location is important, but more so with your vibration studio. Some people easily integrate it within their own existing business, such as doctors, therapists, salons, fitness clubs and sports performance centers. Others will usually make it a stand – alone facility. If that’s the case, then it’s important to have a location with a good amount of foot and car traffic. If the location is hidden, then you’ll have to rely more on advertising rather than walk ins. Also, ensure that the size of your facility is adequate. We’ve seen people open up much larger facilities than they can handle, or smaller facilities that are bursting at the seams. Balancing out the size of the facility and expenses associated with it will go a long way to ensuring success and profit.

Find the right vibration machine and support for your vibration studio

Opening up a vibration studio involves many aspects to a business. There’s marketing, advertising, and human resources, if you’re looking to hire staff. However, most of these are a part of any business and requires the same effort as setting up any other business. The only difference is the support and training that you’ll get when you open up a vibration studio. Since there are so many benefits to vibration, it’s imperative that you get in depth, on site training prior to opening. The training should be comprehensive and include everything from proper exercise positioning, proper terminology to communicate with potential clients, to knowing how to design effective programs. The more you and your staff get trained and are comfortable with the technology and its uses, the more you can spend time on marketing and advertising rather than working on how to develop an effective vibration exercise program.

At WAVE, we have helped open up countless vibration studios across North America. If you’re interested in looking at opening up your own studio, contact us and we’ll send you our comprehensive vibration studio package details.

Weight Loss with Vibration Exercise

Weight loss is one of the most popular reasons why someone buys a vibration machine. If done right, and if you follow a few simple steps, vibration exercise can prove to be an effective part of your weight loss goals. All too often, someone uses a machine and follows the same routine as their friend, and then wonder why they don’t get similar results. It’s for the very same reason why two people will not get the same results with the same diet. In this article, we look at how to use a vibration exercise machine so it becomes a success for your weight loss needs.

Your vibration exercise weight loss program should fit your fitness level

One of the most important reasons why vibration exercise weight loss programs are successful is because everyone can do it. People that may not be able to do other forms of exercise because of disability, or lack of strength or endurance, can easily begin vibration exercise training. For those that are more athletic, vibration exercise can be done at a higher intensity level to get the best workout possible. Whichever way you go, it’s important to understand your own fitness level. Once you know that, you’ll be able to easily to find the program that fits your weight loss goals.

Vibration exercise for weight loss is done three days per week

Most vibration exercise programs will be based on 3 times per week for approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Please note that this can also include stretching, warm up and cool down, if you require these. A lot of times, people ask us whether they can do it every day for weight loss. Yes, you can, but then you won’t get as many benefits from your program. You see, when you do it three times per week, you are actually going to be hitting most of your muscles. Most of the top trainers now recommend this form of training. Your body responds much better to an exercise program the more muscles that are used in one session. Also, its now known that rest is as important to your success as the exercise itself. Forty eight hours of rest in between each session is recommended for your weight loss goals.

Target the bigger muscles with vibration exercise

Majority of our customers initially think that they need to do stomach exercises to lose weight. However, new research and training methods show this not to be the case. Remember, the bigger muscles that you work, the more calories your body burns. Did you know the stomach is actually a very small muscle? Doing a lot of stomach exercises doesn’t do much in terms of burning calories. In fact, the more stomach exercises you do, the bigger risk of getting injured because most of us do not know how to do it properly, unless we have a trainer or even a therapist next to us! Hit the big muscles, like the chest, thighs, calves, and back.

Vibration exercise is only one part of your weight loss program

While we do see some good results with weight loss with vibration exercise alone, most people balance it out with a nutritious and healthy diet, and small lifestyle changes. The best part about the WAVE vibration weight loss program is that it comes with access to the WAVE health portal, with an exercise database, nutrition and meal planning software. That truly is a complete vibration exercise weight loss program.
